The township has new burning regulations that have been in effect since May 2002.

 

What is banned:

 

No person within the limits of the Township of Chippewa, shall ignite, feed, cause, suffer, permit or allow to be maintained on property under his control, lease or ownership any open fire for the destruction or incineration of any; bulky waste, construction waste, garbage, hazardous waste, leaf waste, municipal waste, recyclable material or rubbish.

 

What is allowed is the following:

 

Fire set for cooking food, recreational or ceremonial purposes. (Please notify the police when recreational or ceremonial fires are planned.)

 

Fire to burn unpainted wood.

 

Branches or limbs that have fallen. (not from pruning or trimming your trees.)

What is allowed is the following:

 

Fire set for cooking food, recrecreational or ceremonial purposes.  (Please notify the police when this is to take place.)

 

Fire set to burn personal household papers (Excluding newspapers, magazines)

 

Branches or limbs that have FALLEN.
